Herb Lubalin was a very influential in the 20th century. His works are most prominent in the magazines Eros, Fact, and Avant Garde. The font that he designed for the cover of Avant Garde is still used today and is most know for its “art deco” style of type. The magazines that Lubalin designed for were known to be very “controversial” and focused on topics such as sexuality and experimentation or notions of anti-establishment ideals. His designs are considered to be very “minimalist” due to certain budgets and limitations that were placed upon him.
